I grew up in various places in Australia, studied in China in the early 1980’s, and worked throughout Asia in oil exploration before doing an MBA in Hawaii to shift into the finance industry in Japan.  Completed a CFA in 2000 and was told by one of my brothers to just stop getting qualifications and get on with enjoyng life. Now I live in Tokyo with my wife, while my son avoids us by studying in the US though we do get together in winter for a shared passion for skiing. In addition to a few versions of English, I speak (read, type) Japanese, Chinese (kind of, used to be translator level but haven’t used it much for the last 2 and half decades) , some French, and few words in other languages.  When not pondering the arcane mysteries of the stock market, or working out in the gym, I delve into science news, maths, astronomy, health & fitness, and mine the world wide web for those rare gems: useful information.
